There was a character my Granpa would talk about called &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Whistle Huchcha&lt;/span&gt; (Whistling Madman in &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Kannada&lt;/span&gt;). Never saw him. All i heard was that he would dress up in 70s funky attire, ride on buses (gratis) and whistle away popular tunes. Palakkad was a part of Malabar district during the &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British" title="British"&gt;British&lt;/a&gt; rule. After independence, it became part of the Madras state. It was made part of Kerala state when the state was formed.
